Seasonal Fluctuation of Freezing Tolerance and Soluble Sugar Content in Three Sweet Persimmon Cultivars

چکیده
Sweet persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) exhibits insufficient freezing tolerance (FT) in comparison with other temperate fruit trees. Information about FT of sweet is scarce. In this study, was analyzed three persimmons cultivars, ‘Fuyu’, ‘Taishuu’, and ‘Romang’, using an electrolyte leakage method for two successive years (Year 1, November 2017 to April 2018; Year 2, 2018 2019). Current-year shoot samples from 8-year-old trees each cultivar were collected analyze experimental orchard (Pear Research Station, Naju, Korea). Average daily air temperatures increasingly declined 2017, reaching the minimum mid-January 2018. They then steadily increased until 1). Patterns average 2 similar those 1 except that they reached at end December cultivars constantly during cold acclimation (from January), whereas decreased deacclimation February April) both years. Shoot 2) most freezing-tolerant ‘Romang’ freezing-susceptible ‘Taishuu’ used soluble sugar analysis HPLC. total content highest started decrease January 2019 2019. Fructose glucose contents showed same pattern as sugar. Meanwhile, sucrose maltose detected minimally throughout whole period. These results indicated fluctuations sugar, fructose, paralleled (p < 0.001).

Evaluation of freezing tolerance in olive cultivars by stomatal density and freezing stress
Selection of frost tolerant cultivars and understanding the mechanisms of frost hardiness could help to improve freezing resistance in olive plants. Olive cultivars may differ in frost hardiness due to differential survival of specific organs. The aim of this study was to screen different olive cultivars based on their stomatal density and metabolic modifications under cold conditions. The ‘Zar...
متن کاملEvaluation of Biochemical and Physiological Responses of Seven Olive Cultivars in Relation to Freezing Tolerance
Abstract: Temperature is one of the most important factors limiting the production and distribution of olive. Different olive cultivars show diverse responses to low temperature and so, the selection of cold tolerant cultivars is the most effective method to avoid frost damages. The main purpose of this study was to compare freezing tolerance of seven olive cultivars and to investigate the rel...

This research was carried out to determine effect of sorghum cultivars and copper foliar spray on physiological traits under saline water situation via split plot experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with four replications during 2015 and 2016 year. The main plot consisted sorghum cultivars at three level (Kimia, KGS10, KGS4) and Copper foliar spray (C1: 0 or control...
متن کاملSeasonal Variations in Carnosic Acid Content of Rosemary Correlates with Anthocyanins and Soluble Sugars
Seasonal variations may influence the quality and quantity of biologically active ingredients in medicinal plants. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) a member of the Lamiaceae family, contains valuable antioxidant, anticancer and antibacterial substances, including Carnosic acid (CA). Here, the fluctuations of important active compounds present in rosemary leaf extracts collected in Golestan,...
متن کاملThe effects of ethephon on biomass and carbohydrate content in two sweet sorghum cultivars
In this study, the effects of concentration and application time of ethephon on growth parameters; stem height, stem diameter, biomass, carbohydrate content; sucrose content, invert sugar, brix value, and juice volume of two sweet sorghum cultivars were determined. Three ethephon application time (8 leaves, booting, and flowering) and five ethephon concentrations (0, 200, 400, 600, and 800 ppm)...
